Sunidhi Chauhan opens up about her failed marriage at 18: Knew I was in wrong place

Singer Sunidhi Chauhan recently opened up about her previous marriage. The playback singer married actor Bobby Khan in 2002 when she was just 18-years-old. However, the marriage fell off in a year and they went their separate ways.

'I am what I am because of my mistakes'

Sunidhi Chauhan, who has been active in the music industry for 24 years now, has always maintained a low profile when it comes to her private life. However, in a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble, the singer addressed her failed marriage with Bobby Khan indirectly.

She said, “I have made so many mistakes, like blunders. But I am thankful for those because I am the person I am because of those mistakes. Agar wo mistakes nahi hoti to main bahut boring hoti. (I would have been a boring person if not for those mistakes.) I would have been deprived of the good things in life because once you touch the dark side, that’s when you come out of it and see the light.”

Sunidhi also spoke up about how she still considered the experience "blissful" and talked about the way she decided to deal with the situation at the time. She added, “When I was in it, I was still having a good time. I knew I was in the wrong place, but I also knew that the wrong place will not be there for a long time. I was going to get out of it. If at all anybody speaks about it, I only look at it as something that only helped me turn into a better person.”

Sunidhi's 2nd marriage and family

Sunidhi Chauhan was previously married to Bobby Khan, brother of renowned choreographer and director Ahmed Khan. The two separated a year later. 9 years on, Sunidhi Chauhan tied the knot with music composer Hitesh Sonik. Together they have a 5-year-old son named Tegh. 

Sunidhi Chauhan made her debut as a playback singer with the 1999 film Mast. In it, she sang three songs picturised on film's lead actress Urmila Matondkar. In the coming years, Sunidhi established herself as one of the leading singers in Hindi Cinema, with songs like Bhaage Re Mann, Mehboob Mere and Saaki Saaki.
