Sivakarthikeyan is all set to hit the screens with his film Ayalaan directed by R. Ravikumar on January 12, 2024, marking the festive occasion of Pongal. In a recent interview with Galatta Plus, Sivakarthikeyan shared insights into his experience working on this sci-fi action drama.

Sivakarthikeyan opens up about the hurdles Ayalaan faced

The actor highlighted that the movie began as a mere idea in 2016 when R. Ravikumar first approached him with a concept involving an alien visiting India. Over time, this initial idea evolved into a 30-minute script, expanded into a full-hour narration and further developed into a detailed script book. However, the film encountered hurdles along the way, including financial challenges for the producer and disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic which impacted its production schedule.

Despite these obstacles, Sivakarthikeyan expressed that the extended timeline allowed them to incorporate cutting-edge technology into the movie, enhancing its quality. He assured that Ayalaan promises an unparalleled experience for the audience. He also shared the challenges he faced while acting, especially considering the absence of a physical body for the alien character. Adjusting to the different eye lines between the human actors and the alien's character posed an initial difficulty, leading them to rework shots and sometimes requiring multiple takes.

Sivakarthikeyan hints at potential Ayalaan sequel

The Doctor actor acknowledged that the filmmaking process taught valuable lessons and areas where efficiency could have been improved. Encouragingly, he mentioned their readiness to approach a potential sequel, hinting that if Ayalaan is well-received, a sequel is a possibility.

Ayalaan boasts a stellar cast featuring Rakul Preet Singh, Yogi Babu, Redin Kingsley, Sharad Kelkar, Bhanupriya, among others. This sci-fi film marks R. Ravikumar's second directorial venture and is being jointly produced by KJR Studios and PhantomFX. With AR Rahman's musical score, Nirav Shah handling cinematography and Ruben managing the editing, the film promises an extraordinary visual and auditory experience for its audience.
