Kamal Haasan lauds S Shankar

Kamal Haasan began his speech by reflecting on his history with director Shankar, revealing that Shankar initially approached him for his debut film Gentleman. Kamal stated, “Due to creative differences, I couldn’t do that film. I thought Shankar wouldn’t approach me again after being turned down. However, following the success of 'Gentleman,' he came back with a new script. By then, after 'Devar Magan' had become a hit, I was planning a project with Sivaji Sir. The storylines of 'Indian' and my project were somewhat similar. So, I consulted Sivaji Sir, who told me, ‘We have already acted as father and son. This film will showcase you as both father and son. Go for it.’ He encouraged me out of love, and that’s why I am here today.”
