The Thalapathy Vijay starrer Leo released in theatres on October 19 and has raked up a storm in terms of box office collections. This comes despite the Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial receiving mixed critical reviews. With fan theories swarming the internet, Lokesh Kanagaraj has shared his stance on whether Thalapathy Vijay in Leo is a hero or a villain.

Is Thalapathy Vijay's Leo a hero or a villain?

Ever since the release of the official trailer of Leo, it was clear that Thalapathy Vijay will be playing a grey character in the film, despite leading it. However, there has been much conjecture on theories surrounding the character's morality. Varying perspectives stem from the fact that the origin story shown for Thalapathy Vijay's Leo is eventually revealed to be a false narrative shown from the perspective of one character. With his past left in limbo, there is a lot of unsurity surrounding Leo's moral compass.

During a recent media interaction when posed with the question of Leo's morality, Lokesh Kanagaraj was quick with his short but telling response. He promptly replied, "That’ll be a surprise." The swift reply may just indicate that the director has future plans for the character as well as the Lokesh Cinematic Universe, or, the LCU.

Lokesh Kanagaraj is gearing up to direct Rajinikanth

Having seen through Leo's theatrical release - the path to which was riddled with several controversies - Lokesh Kanagaraj is gearing up for his next big-banner project. He will be helming Thalaivar 171 with Rajinikanth in the lead. 

Rajinikanth is currently filming for Thalaivar 170, directed by TJ Gnanavel. After wrapping up the same, the superstar will begin working on Kanagraj's Thalaivar 171.
