Vijay Sethupathi is all set for his 50th film titled Maharaja. The film will release in theatres on June 14. Ahead of the film's release, the makers unveiled the trailer of the film. Amid the buzz surrounding the film, it has been reported that a popular streaming giant has bagged the digital rights for Maharaja.

Who has bagged the digital rights for Maharaja?

As per a report by 123 Telugu, Netflix has secured the digital streaming rights for Maharaja. The film's Telugu trailer has also been released, but the release date in Telugu is yet to be confirmed. Directed by Nithilan Swaminathan, Maharaja features a stellar cast including Mamta Mohandas, Natty (Natraj), Bharathiraja, Abhirami, Singampuli, Aruldoss, Munishkanth, Vinoth Sagar, Boys Manikandan, Kalki, and Sachana Namidass.

Vijay Sethupathi turns ruthless in Maharaja trailer

In the 1 minute and 42-second trailer, Vijay Sethupathi’s character, Maharaja, is depicted as an ordinary barber who runs a salon in KK Nagar. The plot thickens when someone steals Lakshmi from his house, prompting him to approach the police to file an FIR. The mystery of Lakshmi’s identity adds a comedic element, as it’s revealed to be neither a person nor valuables like money or gold.

As the trailer progresses, a police officer asks Vijay to describe Lakshmi, leading to confusion about whether it is a girl, money, or some document. Maharaja's attempts to explain what Lakshmi is, through amusing gestures, leave viewers in splits. He even warns the police to find his Lakshmi, hinting at further twists to be revealed in the film. The climax of the trailer introduces the villain, played by Anurag Kashyap, hinting at an epic showdown.
