Merry Christmas: Katrina Kaif says performing scenes in Tamil was a ‘big challenge'

During a promotional event for her upcoming movie Merry Christmas, Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif reflected on the difficulties she faced while learning Tamil.

Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi starrer Merry Christmas is one of the highly-anticipated films of the year. As the release date is nearing, the makers recently launched the first track of the film at a grand event. While attending the same, the movie's leading lady opened up about the parts of the film that were challenging for her.

Tamil was a challenge: Katrina Kaif

During the press conference, Katrina said that working for Sriram Raghavan was on her bucket list and when she heard the story of Merry Christmas, she was in awe. However, shooting the scenes in Tamil was "challenging" for her as it was a completely different language for her.

“That for us was a big challenge. The kind of scenes, the nature of the scenes, and performing those scenes in Tamil is a challenge because obviously, that’s a completely different language for me. But both the films have come out beautifully. I am very proud to be a part of both films. Can’t wait to share it with the audience,” said Katrina Kaif.

Katrina Kaif opens up about her choice of films

During the same event, the Tiger actress was asked about her choice of films, to which Katrina replied that she intends to be part of good stories. She believed that the director was the "captain of the ship" and this was a combination of some really important factors to her.

Merry Christmas marks the Tamil debut of Katrina Kaif, director Sriram Raghavan and music composer Pritam, while it is the third Hindi film for Vijay Sethupathi. The romantic thriller is slated to hit the theatres on January 12, clashing with Lal Salaam in the Tamil version.
