Suriya is all set to collaborate with acclaimed filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj for his next Tamil cinema project, tentatively titled Suriya 44. This much-anticipated film, marking the National Award-winning actor's 44th venture in Tamil cinema, is being promoted as a gangster action drama. The production recently commenced in Port Blair, Andaman Nicobar Islands, with the makers releasing a "First Shot" video on social media.

The video features Suriya with his back to the camera, sitting on a ledge with suitcases by his side, gazing at the sea. As the camera zooms in, he turns around, gives a sardonic laugh, and gestures menacingly for the camera to come closer. Suriya is seen wearing a colourful striped shirt, sporting a long mullet and Fu Manchu-style facial hair.

On Saturday, Karthik Subbaraj announced the rest of the cast on his X handle, revealing that Pooja Hegde has been cast as one of the leads. The film also stars Jayaram, Karuna Karan, and Joju George. The music will be composed by Santosh Narayanan, and Shreyaas Krishna will handle the cinematography.

The announcement poster features a burning vintage car with a tree in the foreground bearing a heart carved into it, pierced by an arrow. The film's tagline reads, "Love, laughter, war."
