Amar Upadhyay on his film prospects

Speaking with Bollywood Bubble, Amar discusses the lack of movie offers following the box office triumph of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. He claimed that there was a six to seven-month wait for another project, and as he is a family man who needs to support his family, he didn't want to wait.

The LOC Kargil star said, “It’s not about the big screen that is not been listening to me. It’s my personal life that I am looking at. Every actor has to look at himself and how much he can wait for a certain thing. I have a family, I was married, I had kids, I didn’t want to wait for films to come to me. Films would have come to me after LOC Kargil, or Dhund: The Fog, Jodi Kya Banayi Wah Wah Ramji. Movies would have come to me but there were a couple of months that I had to wait for another film to start or 6-7 months and I didn’t want to wait as an actor and as a family man.”

Amar Upadhyay on feeling discriminated in the TV industry

After quitting Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Amar featured in several TV shows such as Kalash, Des Mein Niklla Hoga Chand, Saathiya – Pyar Ka Naya Ehsaas, Kasautii Zindagii Kay and Kkusum, but all in supporting role. The actor is currently seen in Doree and said that he felt discrimination in the television industry. He said that earlier he used to feel but over the years it changed.

"Primarily yeah but now he has been lucky. TV industry is like that but the kind of roles that I have done, mostly they were male-oriented. Female-oriented story hoti thi par it used to ultimately turn onto the males. Even this show Doree is between father and daughter, so the father is very important," the actor said.
