Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is one of the most popular TV shows. The comedy serial started airing in 2008 and has aired more than 4300 episodes till now. Over time the cast of the show has changed and new faces have been brought in to replace those who have exited. However, Dilip Joshi is still playing the role of Jethalal and has got viewers hooked.

Fans used to love Dilip's chemistry with Disha Vakani, who played the role of Dayaben, in the popular sitcom. However, Disha quit TMKOC in 2017 after welcoming her daughter. Some years later, she became a mother for a second time and is now happily settled with her family, away from the limelight. While fans have respected Disha's decision to choose her personal life over her career, there's no denying that Dayaben is missed on TMKOC.

Fans of the show will recall that Jethalal used to say 'Ae pagal aurat' (crazy woman) when he used to get upset with Daya. While it elicited laughter and was taken with a pinch of salt by the viewers, Dilip recalled the phrase was objected to by women's group and was eventually banned. The actor also shared that it was his improvisation on set and was not an element that was weaved into the script.

"Baad mein, uspe kuch women's lib ya koi movement tha, mujhe bataya gaya, 'Aage se, aap yeh nahi bolenge' (later, there was some women's liberation movement or something, and I was told never to repeat it again)," Dilip recounted about his axed line from the show.
