Popular daily soap Imlie (2020), continued to perform well on the TRP charts even after the post-generational leap. The unpredictable twists in the lives of its lead characters continue to draw in the audience. However, recently, the show faced a significant dip in ratings, leading to talks about it going off-air. Actress Megha Chakraborty has now opened up about the low TRPs and the impact on her.

Megha Chakraborty talks about low TRPs

In an interview with India Forums, Megha Chakraborty cited monsoon season as a factor for the overall decline in TRPs of TV shows. She added that the low TRPs were not due to a lack of engaging content as according to her, the show continues to deliver on the storytelling front.

Megha shared that the cast and crew are determined to give their best and not let the ratings impact their efforts. She stated that the team understands that TRPs are beyond their control and choose to remain positive.

Addressing the close competition between Imlie and Faltu, Megha revealed that Faltu was the one that was shelved and called it "equally disappointing". However, she is happy about the second chance they have got and emphasised the need to improve to sustain their position.

"Definitely both the shows were in close race and then Faltu was chosen to get axed however this too was equally disappointing and now we have got a second chance so we have to bucks up and improve or else the next turn will be ours," she said.

Last year, Imlie took a generational leap and bid farewell to its original star cast. It introduced new leads and a fresh storyline. As Imlie (Sumbul) and Aryan’s (Fahmaan Khan) love story came to an end, the storyline moved towards Imlie and Aryan’s daughters Imlie and Cheeni played by Megha Chakraborty and Seerat Kapoor respectively. While the new storyline initially garnered decent buzz and did well on the TRP charts, the ratings have continued to decline.
