Disha Vakani aka Dayaben left Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah over 5 years ago following a maternity break and hasn't returned to the show yet. Time and again, teasers hinting at Dayaben's return to the long-running comedy show have left fans excited but till now, there has been no sign of Disha's return to TMKOC. Meanwhile, producer Asit Modi has confirmed that Dayaben's role will be recast. Now, a photo of Disha with the cast of TMKOC has gone viral on social media. Does this mean that the original Dayaben will return to the show?

A latest picture surfaced on social media recently showed Disha Vakani and her firstborn daughter with the cast of TMKOC. The image has sparked rumours that Disha might be returning to essay the role of the popular Dayaben in TMKOC after a long gap. However, it could also be that the cast members caught up with each other with no professional commitments involved. 

In the picture, Disha posed along Sunayna Fozdar, Nitish Bhaluni, Palak Sindhwani and Ambika Ranjankar.

Asit Modi on Dayaben's return to TMKOC

While fans of TMKOC have been missing Dayaben for over four years, producer Asit Modi has confirmed that the team is trying their best to get her back on the show. Talking to IANS about the return of Disha Vakani as the iconic Dayaben, Asit said, "We were not committed that Disha Vakani will come. I keep myself positive and keep my fingers crossed. But I have not told anyone that she will come."

"We will definitely bring back Daya's character. The characters are different. Disha is the performer of that character, and she was having immense love from the audience. So to think positive is nothing bad," he added.

TMKOC first premiered on July 28, 2008.
