Producer calls the show ‘a cultural handout’ for next generation

Addressing the media, Siddharth Kumar Tewary, who is also the head of Swastik Productions shared that their purpose in telling their story is to capture ‘the epic’s universality.’ He added, ”It’s a cultural handout for us to generation emerging after us, and tells us human stories replete with emotions and belief.” Tewary also added that making a contemporary version of Ramayan had been ‘a long-cherished dream.’

Meanwhile, Sony TV business head Neeraj Vyas stated that they wanted to present a narrative that is relatively ageless, catering to an audience unaware of our social and national origins. He added, “In a time and age where people don’t easily resort to books to ascertain knowledge, it becomes the responsibility of popular mediums to take the baton forward.”

Asura author drew references from Ramcharitmanas for the show

Writer Anand Neelakanthan, who has authored the much-acclaimed book Asura and worked on the 2015 TV show Siya Ka Ram, has penned the story and screenplay for the upcoming Ramayan version as well. Talking to the media, Neelakantan spoke about how nearly an estimated count of 300 versions of Ramayan exist already, but Ramcharitmanas by Tulsidas ji is the version Neelakantan mostly drew references from for the upcoming show.
