Pushpa: The Rise, the big-scale Allu Arjun starrer actioner, completes 2 years of its release today. At a time when film industries all over the country were struggling to bring audience to the theatres, dealing with the aftermath of CoVID pandemic, the Allu Arjun-starrer took everyone by success with its impactful action and strong emotional beats, telling the story of an underdog protagonist who finds his way to success against all odds. Made on an estimated budget of 200 crores, Pushpa: The Rise earned more than 360 crores at domestic box office. But more importantly, Pushpa: The Rise ended with the promise of a sequel - so naturally the film-goers were awaiting the official announcement of the sequel.

After the stupendous success of Pushpa: The Rise, the makers made an official announcement within 8 months in August 2022, with a traditional pooja ceremony in Hyderabad.  Earlier this year, the makers of Pushpa: The Rise released an eccentric poster with Pushpa’s character sporting a tribal-like, indigenous look, and it only added to the overall excitement about the film. 

Like the first part, Pushpa: The Rule too will be directed by Sukumar. According to a few media reports, some parts of the sequel were already shot before the release of Pushpa: The Rise. However, after the film’s reception at box office, Sukumar decided to alter the story and also decided to reshoot the sequences that were already shot.Reportedly being made on a budget of 500 crore, Pushpa: The Rule is touted to be one of the most expensive Indian films made ever.

The massive impact of Pushpa: The Rise

There were many factors that contributed to the success of first part, including the film’s soundtrack which had hit songs like Srivalli, Oo Antava and Saami Saami. Besides featuring Rashmika Mandanna in a pivotal role, the film also marked the Telugu debut of Malayalam star Fahaadh Faasil.

Pushpa was such a resounding success that a few weeks after the original’s release, the makers decided to release the film in Hindi dub as well. At the 69th National Awards announced in August, Pushpa: The Rise ended up winning two major awards - While Devi Sri Prasad won the Best Music award for the film, Allu Arjun won the Best actor award for his performance in the titular role.
