Devara: The action drama film Devara starring Jr NTR, Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor always manages to stay in the spotlight for their interesting details and announcements. The latest update is that as per reports, the film is inspired by a real-life incident in Andhra Pradesh.

Is Devara from a real-life incident?

According to Cinejosh, filmmaker Koratala Siva Kumar has taken inspiration from a real life incident which took place in the 80s in Andhra Pradesh. The film is reportedly based on Karamcheda massacre, a horrifying incident that took place in 1985.

What is the Karamcheda massacre?

Karamcheda massacre was a tragic event for the Dalit community, specifically the Madras. They were reportedly attacked by high-caste Kamma landlords. This led to several injuries and deaths. Many even had to leave their house in a hurry without taking any of their belongings. This incident permanently left a scar in the state’s history.

Will Devara release a bit early in India?

With each passing day, the excitement around Devara is growing. According to reports, the much-awaited pan-India film will release as early as 1:08 am in India. Interestingly, the film will also open in theatres in the US region simultaneously.

Reportedly, Devara is going to be screened overseas and in two Telugu states at the same time. The film’s theatrical rights in Telugu states have been acquired by Sitara Entertainment producer Nagavanshi Konugulu. While for overseas, rights have been acquired by Hamsini Entertainment.

Directed by Koratala Siva, the movie is being produced by Yuvasudha Arts and NTR Arts. It marks the Telugu debut of Janhvi Kapoor as the female lead and Saif Ali Khan as the antagonist. 

The action drama is set against the backdrop of the sea and will feature violent action scenes, with both Jr NTR and Saif Ali Khan in focus.
