Kalki 2898 AD editor takes a jibe at VFX of Prabhas starrer Adipurush

Kalki 2898 AD is one of the most anticipated movies of the coming year. Directed by Nag Ashwin the film is headlined by Prabhas and Deepika Padukone and boasts an ensemble cast featuring Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani. The film is a scientific fiction with heavy use of VFX. Ahead of the film’s release, the editor spoke about the VFX of the movie and took a jibe at Adipurush. 

Kalki 2898 AD editor says they have researched for the film’s VFX, not like Adipurush 

Kalki 2898 AD editor Vishal Kumar hosted an AMA session on Instagram. A user asked Vishal Kumar, "How is the VFX work compared to previous VFX films, is there any improves?" during an Instagram AMA session. In response, Vishal Kumar ridiculed Adipurush's visual effects, stating,” It took us 10 years to research VFX like Avatar and Avengers. We will see the result of this in Kalki, this is not your Adipurush." 

Why were Adipurush VFX ridiculed? 

Adipurush directed by Om Raut hit the big screens in July earlier this year. The film was an adaptation of the epic story of Ramayan. While the movie performed moderately at the box office, cinephiles ridiculed the Prabhas starrer for using poor VFX and CGI. The movie was also received poorly for the use of colloquial dialogues. 

All you need to know about Kalki 2898 AD

The film was announced under the working title Project K in February 2020 coinciding with the 50th anniversary of Vyjayanthi Movies. However, the production was delayed by a year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Filming began in July 2021 in a futuristic set at Ramoji Film City, in Hyderabad. The San Diego Comic-Con was attended physically by Kamal Haasan, Prabhas and Rana Daggubati. Big B joined the panel via a Zoom video call. In the event, it was announced that the film, which was earlier titled Project K, has been titled Kalki 2898 AD. 

Kalki 2898 AD also feature in the sci-fi film.  Produced by Vyjayanthi Movies, the film is scheduled to release on January 12, 2024.
