Kalki 2898 AD hit the big screens on June 27. The film, directed by Nag Ashwin, opened to a thunderous response at the box office both in India and overseas. The sci-fi movie stars Deepika Padukone, Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Disha Patani and Kamal Hasaan in pivotal roles. The movie managed to break several box office records on the first day of release.
Kalki 2898 AD trails behind RRR, Baahubali 2 to become 3rd biggest opener
On the day of release, Kalki 2898 AD minted ₹92 crore in India, as per estimates provided by Sacnilk. The Prabhas starrer collected a staggering ₹175 crore at the worldwide box office on the day of release. The sci-fi drama has now registered a spot in the top 5 Indian openers of all time.
The first-day collection of Kalki 2898 AD at the worldwide box office has put the film in the third spot of all-time highest Indian openers. The Prabhas starrer follows SS Rajamouli’s RRR (₹223 crore) and Baahubali 2 (₹217 crore). Released on a non-holiday Thursday, the movie has managed to achieve the big feat.
Kalki 2898 AD becomes the highest opener of 2024
On its very first day of release, Kalki 2898 AD broke several box office records. The Hindi version of the movie alone has surpassed the collection of previous Bollywood movies like Fighter, Shaitaan, Crew and Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya to become the highest Hindi opener of the year so far.

Kalki 2898 AD has also become the fourth-highest Indian opener of all time. The film has surpassed Salaar's collection to clench the spot. The first position is retained by RRR which minted ₹133 crore in India on day 1. This is followed by Baahubali 2 (₹121 crore) and KGF 2 (₹166 crore). Consequently, Prabhas has become the only actor to feature in 5 out of the top 7 highest openers of all time. The coming weekend remains crucial to assess the overall box office collection of the film.
