Kamal Haasan is gearing up for the release of his highly anticipated movie Kalki 2898 AD. As the release date is nearing, the makers held a special pre-release event in Mumbai attended by the lead actors such as Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan. They talked in detail about the movie and its characters. Haasan also broke the silence by playing a villain in the movie.

Why did Kamal Haasan opt for the villain role in Kalki 2898 AD?

During the Kalki 2898 AD pre-release event, Kamal Haasan shared that he spent a sizable time with director Nag Ashwin to come up with his look for the movie. He added that he was telling Big B backstage that he always wanted to play the "bad man" as he gets to do all the good things in the movies. "Where the heroes are singing romantic songs and waiting for the heroine, I thought I was going to play the bad man so it is going to be fun. (Nag) wanted it to be different so I am almost like a sage with a bad idea," the veteran actor added.

Opening up about his distinctive appearance in the movie, Kamal Haasan explained that he didn't want to repeat his past looks. So he tried coming up with something of his own only to be told that Bib B had already got in his look. He also suggested wearing armour but Prabhas already got that. He joked that he didn't want to be pregnant in the movie or he would have tried Deepika's look as well. Elaborating further, the veteran star expressed hope that the audience would like his appearance.

How Big B and Prabhas fight to help pregnant Deepika Padukone?

Deepika is expecting her first child with actor and husband Ranveer Singh. So when the actress was stepping down the stairs everyone just wanted to protect her. The actress entered the stage in a black dress. Rana Daggubati, who welcomed Deepika on the stage, asked her to take a seat. She was about to step down from the stage when Prabhas and Big B rushed to help her. Prabhas was close to the stage so he quickly reached out his hand to the actress and helped her swiftly walk down the stage. On seeing Prabhas helping the Tamasha actress, Big B playfully grabbed Prabhas and insisted that he also wanted to assist Deepika. This funny fight made everyone in the room burst out into laughter.

Kalki 2898 AD is slated to hit the theatres on June 27.
