'Revenge Dress To Revenge Diamond', Samantha Repurposes Engagement Ring Into Pendant Four Years After Divorce With Chay

Samantha tied the knot with actor Naga Chaitanya in 2017, but the couple parted ways in 2021. In April 2024, the Citadel Hinny Bunny actress revamped her white wedding gown into a black dress. A move that the Internet deemed as ‘revenge dressing’ (taking cues from Princess Diana). A jewellery influencer on Instagram has now claimed that the actress has repurposed her engagement ring as well. While the appearance of both pieces of jewellery is strikingly similar, Samantha has not addressed whether it is a repurpose. 

Did Samantha repurpose her wedding ring?

A jewellery influencer Dhrumit Merulia took to his Instagram account to share his observation about Samantha's engagement ring. He noted that the actress has seemingly converted the diamond ring she got from her ex-husband Naga Chaitanya during their engagement into a pendant. He also shared snippets of the actress wearing the pendant with the diamond rock in the centre.

According to him, the natural version of the diamond ring would cost around ₹48,52,000 while the lab-grown version of the ring is worth ₹1,35,000. Referring to Samantha transforming her wedding dress, he termed her act of converting her wedding ring as a ‘revenge diamond’. The actress is yet to address the commentary on the striking similarity between her ring and the pendant.

When Samantha repurposed her wedding dress

In April 2024, while accepting an award for sustainability, the Family Man actor walked the talk by repurposing what she called “a beloved gown”. This beloved gown was in fact her wedding outfit that she wore while marrying ex-husband Naga Chaitanya. She changed the colour of the gown from white to black and wore it on the red carpet of an award function.

Samantha, who champions the cause of sustainability, chose to repurpose her wedding gown to show that it can be done tastefully. She changed the white bodice of the gown to a black one, with beads and crystals to make it look ethereal. She took to her Instagram to write, “We cannot ignore sustainability anymore. We’re past that stage when it was a choice. It’s now a necessity for the longevity of our planet that we call home.” She then went on to praise her designer friend by saying, “The dress I am wearing today is a beloved gown that has been repurposed for this occasion by the most talented @kreshabajajofficial . While that might sound insignificant… entitled even… to many… I assure you that repurposing my old clothes is only one of many steps I am consciously taking to alter my habits and make my lifestyle more sustainable. And every little gesture, every little decisive action, is important. It all adds up. I urge myself and all of you that have goodwill for me in your hearts to make those little efforts.”

Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya got married according to two rituals - Hindi and Christian - in 2017. In 2021, the former couple announced getting separated and within a year they were granted a divorce. Fast forward to now, Samantha is single and busy working on herself, while Naga Chaitanya is set to marry Sobhita Dhulipala on December 4 this year.
