Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi recently celebrated his 45th year in the film industry. He made his debut in 1978 but gained widespread recognition after starring in the 1983 action film Khaidi. Known for his exceptional dancing skills, the actor has appeared in over 150 films in various languages. But did you know that one of the veteran actor's films was banned by CBFC after being embroiled in a controversy?

Which Chiranjeevi film was banned by CBFC?

The 1995 film Alluda Majaka, directed by EVV Satyanarayana, stirred controversy due to its storyline. After its release, both communist and Hindu nationalist groups demanded a ban on the film, citing numerous scenes portraying women in an obscene manner. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) eventually banned the movie two months after its release, leading to protests by Chiranjeevi's fans in Hyderabad.

The CBFC later lifted the ban on the condition that the objectionable parts of the film be edited out. Despite re-censoring and re-releasing the film, it had already enjoyed a successful run in theaters, with audiences flocking to see it. Alluda Majaka ultimately became one of the year's hits, and both its original and edited versions are reportedly available on YouTube.
