Tamil actor and music composer Vijay Antony's 16-year-old daughter Meera died by suicide yesterday, September 19. Meera was found hanging in her Teynampet residence and was rushed to a hospital where she was declared dead on arrival by the doctors, as per PTI. Reportedly, her mortal remains were sent to her Alwarpet home after conducting a postmortem. Meanwhile, her last rites will take place in Chennai.

On September 20, Meera's mortal remains were taken to a church in Nungambakkam for last rites, as per media reports. Meanwhile, she will be cremated at Chennai's Kilpauk cemetery. If reports are to be believed, Meera's final rites will be performed as per Christian rituals and pastors will be conducting a prayer for her. Currently, her body has been taken to the Nungambakkam church.

Celebs offer condolences after Meera's demise

Soon after the news of Vijay Antony's daughter Meera's death was reported, several celebrities took to their social media handles to offer their heartfelt condolences to the family. Jayam Ravi took to his X (formerly Twitter) and expressed his disbelief. He wrote, "It’s heartbreaking to hear about the loss of your daughter @vijayantony brother. To all the children out there, please know that you are cherished, valued, and never alone. We are living only for your happiness and love. Life is full of ups and downs, and you have the power to overcome the challenges...Whatever share to parents we're there to face for you RIP Meera (sic)."

Leo director Lokesh Kanagaraj also offered his condolences and wrote, "Heartbroken to hear the news about your loss @vijayantony brother. More strength to you and your family to get through this loss." Chandramukhi 2 star Raghava Lawrence was shocked to hear the news and wrote, "I am deeply saddened by loss of your daughter , May her souls rest in peace. My heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you @vijayantony sir.. I pray Raghavendra swamy to give more strength to you and your family in this tough times (sic)."
