Music composer Vijay Antony's 16-year-old daughter allegedly dies by suicide

Meera, the daughter of veteran actor and music composer Vijay Antony, died in the wee hours of Tuesday, September 19. The 16-year-old girl allegedly died by suicide. Meera, a class 12 student, was found hanging in her Teynampet residence and was rushed to a city hospital where she was declared brought dead by the doctors, as per PTI. 

A case of unnatural death has been registered, and an investigation is underway.

Allegedly, Meera was under stress and dealing with depression. It is said, she was receiving treatment for the same. Police is currently conducting an investigation into the matter as more details are awaited. 

The news of Antony's 16-year-old daughter allegedly dying by suicide sent shockwaves among the composer's friends and acquaintances. Many took to social media to express their shock and extend condolences.

Trade analyst Ramesh Bala re-shared Vijay's wife Fatima's old post and wrote, "In March of this year, Mrs Fatima Vijay Antony was so happy that her daughter #MeeraVijayAntony become the cultural secretary of her school students association... We all congratulated her on Twitter... She was the world to her parents. Can't imagine the pain."

Condolences pour in

Reacting to Meera's demise, veteran actor R Sarathkumar said, "The news of the untimely and unfortunate demise of the daughter of @vijayantony and Fatima is shocking beyond imagination. No amount of consoling and condolences can replace the everlasting grief of Vijay Antony and Fatima." Posting his condolence message on the social media platform X, he said, "Vijay I hope the almighty gives strength to your family to bear the unfathomable loss."

Who is Vijay Antony? 

Vijay Antony is known for composing music in films such as Vettaikaaran and Rasikkum among others. Recently, he held a concert in Chennai, which was a massive hit. Antony has also acted in films like Annadurai, Kaali and Salim. His next acting project Raththam is slated for release on October 6, 2023.
