Vijay Antony's 16-year-old daughter Meera allegedly died by suicide on September 19. She was found hanging at her Teynampet residence and was rushed to a hospital where she was declared dead on arrival by the doctors, as per PTI. Meera’s funeral was held in Nungambakkam, Chennai on Wednesday morning where her father and mother Fatima broke down in tears.

In a post shared by Thanthi TV on its official X account, they said that Meera’s mother Fatima cried at her funeral asking questions like why Meera didn’t tell her about her struggles. According to the post, an inconsolable Fatima said, “I carried you in the womb… You could have said a word to me."

The news of Antony's 16-year-old daughter allegedly dying by suicide sent shockwaves among the composer-actor's friends and acquaintances. Many took to social media to express their shock and extended their condolences.
Jayam Ravi said on X (formerly Twitter) and expressed his disbelief. He wrote, "It’s heartbreaking to hear about the loss of your daughter @vijayantony brother. To all the children out there, please know that you are cherished, valued, and never alone. We are living only for your happiness and love. Life is full of ups and downs, and you have the power to overcome the challenges...Whatever share to parents we're there to face for you RIP Meera (sic)."

Vijay Antony is known for composing music in films such as Vettaikaaran and Rasikkum among others. Recently, he held a concert in Chennai, which was a massive hit.
