Morning Drinks You Must Try For Constipation Relief
If you’re experiencing difficulty passing stools on days when you consume less liquid or certain foods, you may try these morning drinks.
Constipation, in simple terms, means having difficulty passing stools. It is often caused by insufficient fiber intake, certain food intolerances, minimal fluid consumption, or other major health concerns.
What is constipation?
Johns Hopkins Medicine explains, “Hard, dry stools are the result of the colon absorbing too much water. Normally, as food moves through the colon (also known as the large intestine), the colon absorbs water while forming stool (waste products). Muscle contractions then push the stool toward the rectum, and, by the time the stool reaches the rectum, most of the water has been absorbed, making the stool solid. When the colon's muscle contractions are slow or sluggish, the stool moves through the colon too slowly, resulting in too much water being absorbed.”
Although long-term constipation, also known as chronic constipation, may need medical attention, if you’re experiencing difficulty passing stools on days when you consume less liquid or certain foods, you may try these morning drinks to improve your digestion.
Drinks To Help You Poop
Apple cider vinegar: Start your day with tangy apple cider vinegar mixed in a lukewarm glass of water. This fluid balances pH levels, boosts metabolism, and reduces bloating in the morning.
Cucumber and lemon cooler: Slice tiny pieces of cucumber and lemon and leave them soaking in water overnight. You can strain the juice and drink it the next morning for better digestion and bowel movement.
Lukewarm lemon water: As simple as lukewarm lemon water can aid in the easy passing of stools. Drinking lukewarm lemon water in the morning not only reduces constipation but also improves bloating and boosts the immune system.
Cold or warm water: The basic idea is to drink enough fluids to help you pass stools easily. If you don’t have time to dice lemon, or cucumber, or open the cap of apple cider vinegar, simply drink enough water to facilitate easy bowel movements, resulting in better digestion and reduced constipation.
