The World Health Oganisation (WHO) recommends smokers to utilise the benefits of artificial intelligence (AI) based apps to quit smoking cigarettes "Digital tools like AI-based apps and text messaging can support your journey to quit tobacco. Use our digital health promoter to help you create a quit plan," WHO mentioned.
Sarah is a prototype of a digital health promoter available 24/7 in eight languages via video or text. She can provide tips to destress, eat right, quit tobacco and e-cigarettes, as well as give information on several other health topics, according to WHO.
She uses generative AI as a base and has also been trained with information from the World Health Organization and trusted partners.
Fred Hutchinson Cancer Centre researchers, led by Dr Jonathan Bricker, launched an AI-powered chatbot app called QuitBot to help more people successfully quit smoking cigarettes. Available for free on Apple and Android devices, QuitBot is a comprehensive app that uses an AI-powered chatbot to provide users personalised support to quit smoking.
Developed using scientifically backed answers vetted by scientists and experienced smoking cessation clinicians, QuitBot combines evidence-based structured conversations to guide users through the process of quitting with the flexibility of specially trained AI to answer their questions about smoking.
