Few things to keep in mind before waxing yourself at home:

Keep Waxing Kit Ready:

Collect all the materials you need for waxing at one place. Like, wax, wax strips, talcum powder, moisturiser, body scrub and pain-numbing cream or lotion. Choose the wax for your hair type carefully. For sensitive skin, it’s good to use the wax that is clinically-tested. If you do not know which to buy or not sure, it’s best to use an aloe-vera based wax.

Exfoliate your skin:

Exfoliating yourself helps in smoothing your skin, softening of hair and opens up the hair follicles. Exfoliation also helps in preventing ingrown hair growth. Exfoliation reduces pain during waxing and also makes the process a bit easier.

Get prepared for the pain:

Waxing causes a little pain. So it’s better to apply pain-numbing lotion or cream to the area to be waxed, half an hour before waxing, if you want to reduce pain or if you are extremely sensitive to pain. And, make sure you do not wax during periods or one-two days before periods. It is mainly because you are too sensitive to pain during that time.

Set proper Temperature Before Waxing:

Traditional or hard wax needs to be heated, prior to application. The temperature of the wax must not be too hot or it will just lead you scalding your skin. The wax must not be too cold also, because then it will not spread properly. The ideal temperature is warm. Take a patch test before you apply wax all over the area to be waxed. If you are using cold wax strips for waxing, the temperature is not an important factor.

Right Direction:

You should apply wax towards the direction of your hair growth. It is always recommended to just peel of the strip in one go for good results and less pain. Make sure to place strip close to your skin. And keep skin little tight before pulling the strip off.

Washing after Waxing:

Make sure to wash the areas that you have just waxed. It is recommended to use cold water. Washing with hot water will just hurt.  Apply astringent and moisturise it nicely.
