World Mental Health Day 2024: Theme, Significance And Mantras To Reduce Stress
In collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), this year’s World Mental Health Day focuses on “Mental Health at Work".
World Mental Health Day is observed annually on October 10. The initiative was first proposed in 1992 by Richard Hunter, Deputy Secretary General of the World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH).
This day is dedicated to raising awareness of mental health issues on a global scale and mobilizing efforts to support mental well-being.
World Mental Health Day 2024: Theme
The World Health Organization (WHO), uniting with partners, this year’s World Mental Health Day focuses on “Mental Health at Work". With approximately 60% of the global population engaged in work, WHO emphasizes the urgent need for action to prevent mental health risks in the workplace and promote mental well-being.
WHO notes that “an unhealthy working environment, characterized by stigma, discrimination, harassment, and poor working conditions, can significantly impact mental health, quality of life, and overall productivity.”
World Mental Health Day 2024: Significance
World Mental Health Day serves as a platform for stakeholders, organizations, and unions worldwide to come together and raise awareness about mental health. While there are initiatives to combat mental health issues, many activities are organized, including talks, lectures, and hands-on events, to promote mental well-being, especially on this particular day.
