Sujith Wilson rescue: O Panneerselvam visits site, consoles parents

Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Panneerselvam visited the rescue operation site where efforts are underway to rescue a two-year-old Sujith Wilson who fell into a borewell in Tiruchirappalli district.

Deputy CM visits Sujith's parents

The deputy CM was accompanied by his son and Lok Sabha MP OP Raveendranath Kumar. Deputy CM also visited the parents of the toddler and consoled them, later they monitored the rescue operations at the site. The toddler fell into a pothole on Friday when he was playing outside his house. Rescue teams rushed to the site and operations were underway,unfortunately, the toddler slipped further down and is now stuck at 100 feet into the borewell.

Rescue operations underway

Currently, six teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), as well as the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), have been deployed to rescue Wilson. Health Minister C Vijayabaskar, Revenue Minister RB Udayakumar and Commissioner of Revenue Administration J Radhakrishnan are present at the spot, directing the authorities concerned to try their best to rescue the infant at earliest. A team from Neyveli lignite corporation is also been sent to the spot to read the rock structures and take appropriate steps. Various other teams with sophisticated instruments with the cameras are being used to track the child's condition. 

On Sunday, megastar Rajnikanth while addressing the media on Diwali also said he is praying for the safe return of the boy.

"I extend my Diwali wishes to all. I also pray wholeheartedly for the safe return of Sujith who is stuck. Though various machines are trying to rescue him, I think precautionary measures should have been taken," he said. 

When the incident came to light,#SaveSujith and #PrayforSujith hashtags started to trend on Twitter, people all over the country are concerned and praying for the little boy.
