A gang of bike-borne miscreants in Patna assaulted an ex-IPS official in broad daylight, visuals of which are shocking. Ajay Varma, a civic official retired from the 1985 batch, was assaulted by the goons after having a heated argument with the former officer after crashing into his stationary car at a signal.

Murderous attempt in broad daylight

Varma was travelling with his family in his car and had stopped in front of the school, along with other vehicles, to let the children pass. One of the bike-borne miscreants rammed into Varma's car, damaging a part of it. The former official then managed to chase down the goons, who had tried to escape and grabbed their keys following which they had a heated argument. Visuals of the incident reveal the former cop getting thrashed by the goons in broad daylight and full public view. The goons are seen hurling heinous abuses despite former cop's family pleading them to stop the assault.

"I called the SP twice and did not get a response. I then dialed the senior SP to inform him about the dangerous situation I was in after a crowd started to gather. When I caught them, I thought they must be underaged and that they would not possess a license. So I called the SP to inform about the accident and to warn the local guardians of the boys about the illegal act. However, a heated argument followed after which I was thrashed. By the time the police could reach the location, the goons had absconded", he said.

FIR lodged but no arrests made yet

An FIR has been lodged by Ajay Varma with the Patna police, however, no arrests have been made so far in the case. The crime comes as a shocker as a former cop is assaulted in full public view, 34-second footage that reveals how the miscreants dishonour an ex-IPS officer. The Nitish Kumar led JD(U) government has already been facing flak for not being able to adequately maintain law and order situations in the state.
