Even as the infighting between the Mumbai Congress leaders is getting uglier with each passing day, the senior leaders of the party have for the first time come out in open and spoke out against Sanjay Nirupam. While speaking exclusively with Republic TV, Congress MLC Bhai Jagtap has said that Nirupam is not a good team captain.

"There is some problem with this gentleman ( Sanjay Nirupam ). We all know that the captain of the team should take everyone along but he ( Nirupam ) is not doing that. When we met Mallikarjun Kharge two days ago then we apprised him about the current situation of Mumbai Congress. We are not saying that he is right or wrong, our point is that captain should give vision to the team and take everyone along with him. Let the high command decides what they want to do," said Bhai Jagtap.

A few leaders of the Mumbai leaders recently complained to Maharashtra Congress in-charge Mallikarjun Kharge against Sanjay Nirupam.

Former Mumbai Congress chief Janardhan Chandurkar, in a conversation with Republic TV's Principal Correspondent Dinesh Mourya, also admitted that there is a leadership crisis in Mumbai Congress unit.

"After the demise of veteran Congress leader Gurudas Kamat, there is a huge vacuum in Mumbai Congress unit, which needs to be filled. They are party workers and cadres who have voiced their views about the Mumbai leadership," said Chandurkar.

Without taking the name of Sanjay Nirupam, former Mumbai Congress chief Chandurkar said:

"In last BMC election we became third number party, whereas Shivsena was at number one position was on the 2nd position. we don't deserve to be at number three in Mumbai. There was a time when we ruled this city."

Chandurkar also claimed that party president Rahul Gandhi is completely aware of the ongoing situation within the Mumbai Congress and that he will take right decision at the right time. He also said that he and a few other leaders are waiting for an appointment with Rahul Gandhi.

In the meantime, Priya Dutt has clarified that she is not a part of any camp. She has appealed to all the leaders to respect the decision of high command which has appointed Sanjay Nirupam as Mumbai unit chief, and to support Nirupam in strengthening the party.
