A Surat-based entrepreneur Viral Desai has installed a 'Tree Ganesha’ in Surat. The installation has attracted many students from the city. The spot is also being used for educational visits by city schools. Students from various schools across the city have been visiting the spot at Zenitex, Katragam and are being educated about environmental conservation and personalities who have contributed towards the cause.
The young entrepreneur is known as the Green Man of Gujarat and has dedicated his life for energy conservation and the environment. Viral Desai has decorated the spot with themes and posters messages of the environmental conversation. The Ganpati idol at the spot has been transformed from a tree. The mandap also includes posters with messages from famous environmentalists like Leonardo DiCaprio, Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, Padma Shri Amma from Karnataka, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a botanist from Japan and their valuable contributions.
The Mayor of Surat, Jagdish Patel, paid a special visit to the spot. The Mayor in his visit, also praised Viral for his unique celebrations which are a mix of spirituality and environmentalism and can inspire others for the same. Around 300 students of L.P. Savani Academy, 90 students of Tapti Kids also visited Tree Ganesha where Viral Desai informed them about the importance of environmental conservation and all students were gifted plant saplings. SGCCI also visited the Tree Ganesha and gifted everyone a plant.
Viral Desai recently received Bharat Gaurav award in July for his contribution to society through his environmental work. He received awards for ‘The Best Industry of Gujarat State for Quality and Environmental Protection’ 4 times. He was also awarded at the Vibrant Gujarat 2019 Summit. Viral was also conferred with the biggest national award for energy conservation by the Ministry of Power, Government of India.
