Two unidentified bike-borne assailants allegedly opened fire at a car in east Delhi's Preet Vihar on Tuesday, police said.

The occupants of the car -- Jaan Mohammad (25), who was driving the car, and his father Akbar Ali -- escaped unhurt, they said.

The incident took place around 9.45 am on the stretch between Hasanpur Depot and Kadkadi Mod, the police said.

According to the complaint lodged by Mohammad, he and his father were going to the Karkardooma court for the hearing of a case when the two bike-borne men, whose faces were covered with helmets, intercepted their car and fired two shots at the vehicle's windshield, they said.

The men allegedly threatened to kill Mohammad if he deposed in the court, they added.

A case has been registered at Karawal Nagar police station and CCTV footage is being examined to identify the accused, the police said.
