Lok Sabha Elections 2019: "Omar will become Chief Minister", announces NC Chief Farooq Abdullah

National Conference president and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah on Sunday said that NC leader Omar Abdullah will contest the Assembly election and run for the post of Chief Minister. Addressing a public meeting asking people to vote for party candidate B R Kundal in Jammu-Poonch parliamentary constituency, he said that he will fight the Lok Sabha polls and is confident of winning it.

"Mai Mukhya Matri nahi banunga. Mai clear karna chahata hoon. Mukhya Mantri vo banega jiska naam Omar Abdullah hai. Vo jawan hai aur mai budha hoon. Mai nahi bhaag sakta jitna ye jawan log bhag sakte hai. Unke saath agar koi mukabala kar sakta hai toh Omar Kar sakta hai. Mai Mukabala kar sakta hoon issey (points twoards his head). Vo mujhe parliamnent mai karna hai aur inshallah mai parliament mai zaroor jaunga, mujhe pure umeed hai. (I want to make this clear that I will not contest for Chief Minister's post. Omar will become the Chief Minister. He is young and I have become old. I cannot run as compared to these young energies. If anyone who has the power to compete with them is Omar. I can only fight them with brain and that I have to do in Parliament. And I am positive that I will win and go to parliament for work".

Meanwhile, former chief minister Omar Abdullah confirmed that the National Conference received a proposal from Congress for an alliance in Jammu & Kashmir but added that only his party leaders would be contesting from the three seats in Kashmir valley. 

While addressing the media, the NC leader said: 

"In Kashmir, there will only be NC candidates National Conference candidates in all three states. There will be no compromise. If that suits Congress then we can take it further else no. But there is no way we will compromise in those 3 seats".

When asked whether there is any communication after NC leaders demand, Omar said that he awaking their response. 

"The Congress has not replied yet."
