Using a photoshopped image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with a host of individuals, Congress President Rahul Gandhi repeated his 'chowkidar chor hai' chant just hours after the BJP launched its #MainBhiChowkidar campaign.

The Gandhi scion continued his 'chor' tirade against PM Modi using a cut out picture of his, joining it with the likes of Anil Ambani, Vijay Mallya, Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi.

"Defensive tweet Mr Modi! You feeling a little guilty today?" his Twitter message read.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi kickstarted his party's poll campaign by using #MainBhiChowkidar to tackle the opposition, especially Rahul Gandhi's 'chowkidar' attack on the Prime Minister.

Aimed at bringing people together and suggesting anyone who fights and stands up against the wrong is a 'chowkidar', the party is hoping to recreate the 'Chai pe charcha' campaign magic which began prior to 2014 polls following chaiwala jibe by Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar on PM Modi.

"This campaign will also further drive the narrative of PM’s strong and decisive image which multiple surveys have conveyed is the main factor in the upcoming elections," BJP's statement on the campaign read.

The BJP, after conducting surveys, reportedly found out that the jibes by the opposition, especially Congress president Rahul Gandhi, wasn't going down well with the people of this country, and hence, they are now aiming to use that very jibe to their benefit.
