'Will prepare to take fight to BJP now': How Omar Abdullah signed off to make the most of the last hours of his birthday following the 2019 election announcement

Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir would not be held along with the Lok Sabha 2019 elections, CEC Sunil Arora announced on Sunday. In the wake of the development, Omar Abdullah took to Twitter to state that he is 'done dissecting the EC announcement', adding that he 'will prepare to take the fight to BJP now'.

Hours after the Election Commission announced the dates of the election 2019, former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah went on a Twitter rampage targeting the BJP leadership over the delay in the Assembly Elections in the state. 

Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir would not be held along with the Lok Sabha 2019 elections, CEC Sunil Arora announced on Sunday. In the wake of the development, Omar Abdullah took to Twitter to state that he is 'done dissecting the EC announcement', adding that he 'will prepare to take the fight to BJP now'. 

In a tweet on Sunday, Omar Abdullah had expressed disappointment when the ECI did not announce the dates for Jammu and Kashmir elections saying, "No Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir".

After BJP ended the ruling alliance with the PDP party-led by former J&K CM Mehbooba Mufti, the state has been under Governor's Rule. In the aftermath of the recent attacks, political parties had asked the Elections Commission to hold the assembly elections along with the Lok Sabha polls in April-May. 

However, reasoning the decision over security issues, the EC stated that Assembly Polls will not take place along with General elections. However, dates for the same have not been announced yet.

Meanwhile, the General Elections for the six seats in Jammu and Kashmir will take place in five phases on April 11, April 18, April 23, April 29, and May 6. The counting of the votes will take place on May 23.
