6-year-old boy from Mizoram receives 'Word of Appreciation' certificate after he took an injured chicken to a nearby hospital

A 6-year-old boy, Derek C Lalchhanhima, from Mizoram defines humanity in the most innocent way possible. A post went viral on Thursday that showed him carrying a chicken in one hand and all his 'savings' in the other. The post said: "As per Reports: This young boy from Sairang, Mizoram, accidentally ran over his neighbour's chicken. He took the chicken, ran to a nearby hospital and with all the money he had, asked for help.(I'm laughing and crying all at the same time)" [sic]

For his brave act, according to the reports, Derek was given an award and was also presented with the Tawlhloh Puan, a shawl that is draped on him, is an honour given to those who have exemplified extraordinary courage, in traditional Mizo tradition.

Netizens called him a 'Hero' for his brave act. One user said: "#Hero Sheer innocence. Got to be the cutest hero!".

 

In an interview, Sairang's mother said that after the award people are pulling his leg saying ‘You have now become a celebrity’ and the little kid doesn't even understand that and asked her what a celebrity is! She further added that his action was out of the innocence of his heart. and they totally laughed it off when he came to them. His mother concluded by saying that they never thought or expected that it would become a national news or that people will appreciate his action so much.
