Actor-turned-politician Nandamuri Harikrishna passed away in a road accident on Wednesday morning.

Actor-turned-politician Nandamuri Harikrishna passed away in a road accident on Wednesday morning. Harikrishna was on his way to attend the wedding of a fan when his car crashed into a road median on Nalgonda Highway. He suffered serious head injuries and was rushed to Kamineni Hospital where he was declared dead.

Political background: 

N Harikrishna, 61, was the son of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) founder and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao. He was also the brother-in-law of present Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. In the early 90s, when TDP was going through internal fluctuation, Harikrishna played a crucial road in getting the party back on track. He was also a Minister in Naidu's cabinet and later also served as a Member of Parliament.

Film Industry: 

NTR’s fourth son, Nandamuri Harikrishna, tasted success in the film industry as a child artist. He made his acting debut in Sri Krishnavataram as little Krishna in 1964 which was directed by Kamalakara Kameshwara Rao.

1970: He then starred in Talla Pellamma 

1974: He made a mark with movies like Tatamma Kala, Ram Raheem

1977: He worked in Daana Veera Shura Karna

1998: After a long gap, he returned to his acting career with a guest role in the Mohan Babu-starrer Sri Ramulayya

1999: This was a year of rejoicing for Harikrishna's fans as the actor did a full-length role alongside Nagarjuna in Seetharama Raju

2002-2003: Laahiri Laahiri Laahirilo (2002) and Seetayya (2003), which are directed by YVS Chowdary, are considered the biggest hits of his career

Nandamuri Harikrishna is survived by his wife, two sons, and a daughter. From his first wife, he had two sons, Janaki Ram and Kalyan Ram, and a daughter Suhasini. From his second wife, he had a son Taraka Ram who was later renamed by his father Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR) as Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao Jr (NTR Jr). Both Kalyan Ram and NTR Jr are successful actors in the Telugu film fraternity.
