Al-Qaeda sent its man to train Rohingyas in India, set up bases in Mizoram, Manipur

A day after Republic TV exposed Lashkar-e-Taiba chief Hafiz Saeed’s link to the Rohingyas, a direct link of Al-Qaeda with the Rohingyas have been confirmed. The Delhi police, on September 18, arrested a British Al-Qaeda terrorist who claimed to be organising resistance among Rohingyas to fight the Myanmar Army. Shauman Rahman was sent by Al-Qaeda to train Rohingyas in India.

The arrest has also revealed sensational details that how Rohingya are not peace-loving revolutionaries in Myanmar as they have affiliation with the Pakistan-based terror groups.

Shauman Rahman alias Hamdan reportedly got radicalised in London. Soon after he was recruited by leaders of Al-Qaeda in Islamic Maghreb. There he was told to go to Syria and fight for al-Nusra - an affiliate of al-Qaeda in Syria -fighting against the Syrian government forces.

During interrogation, Shauman revealed that when he was in Syria, the outfit got to know about the atrocities on the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar. Since he had stayed in Bangladesh, he was chosen to raise a fighter group by radicalising the Rohingyas. He was sent there with a British passport. Later, he got arrested in Bangladesh in September 2014 and was later released on bail.

Two months ago, Al-Qaeda directed Shauman to set up bases in Manipur and Mizoram to radicalise youths so that they could fight against the Myanmar forces. He also had plans to facilitate Rohingyas’ entry from the "porous" Mizoram and Manipur side. Since Al-Qaeda knew he was marked, he was given a Bangladeshi identity. He was in Delhi-NCR to try and set up a base for al-Qaeda and recruit cadres for jihad. He was being assisted by various Al-Qaeda cadre in New Delhi.

On Tuesday Republic TV exposed Rohingya-Hafiz Saeed link through a 2012 picture in which ARSA terror mentor Abdul Qadoos Burmi is seen sharing stage with Hafiz Saeed.

The Centre on September 18 filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court on the issue concerning the deportation of Rohingya Muslims from India. The Supreme Court had asked the government to file the affidavit on a plea against the deportation of illegal Rohingya Muslim immigrants to Myanmar. The document stated that Rohingyas have links with the global terror outfit Islamic State as well as Pakistan’s spy agency ISI. Centre's affidavit filed in Supreme Court states that terror-backing Rohingyas active in Jammu, Delhi, Hyderabad and Mewat. Furthermore, it is observed by the Centre that the Rohingyas have indulged in anti-national and illegal activities such as mobilising funds through hawala, procuring fake IDs, human trafficking and have involved in plots for a communal flare-up.
