Amit Shah launches Poshan Maah in Silvassa, urging people to initiate

POSHAN Abhiyaan was announced by the Prime Minister in last month's 'Mann ki Baat' and the movement commenced in Silvassa on September 1 by Amit Shah.

Union Home Minister, Amit Shah launched the Prime Minister's Overreaching Scheme for Holistic Nourishment (Poshan) Abhiyaan 2019 in his visit to Silvassa on September 1. POSHAN Abhiyaan is a multi- ministerial convergence mission with the vision to address malnutrition with a targeted approach by 2022. Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke about malnutrition in his Mann ki Baat program last month and mentioned that both poor and affluent families are affected by the lack of awareness and said that the entire month of September will be celebrated as the Rashtriya Poshan Maah.

Let's make this a Mass Movement: Amit Shah 

Amit Shah on Twitter said that "Poshan Maah (Nutrition month) is a social movement initiated by PM Modi’s govt to spread awareness among citizens about the curse of malnutrition. We’ll be able to win over it only when this Abhiyan becomes a Jan-Abhiyan. Come let's build a healthier India.

POSHAN Abhiyaan is not a program but a Jan Andolan, and Bhagidaari, meaning “People’s Movement”. This program incorporates inclusive participation of public representatives of local bodies, government departments of the state, social organizations and the public and private sector at large. Apart from the POSHAN Abhiyaan, the Home Minister also inaugurated multiple development projects in  Silvassa.

Union Minister Smriti Irani lauds #PoshanMaah

After the launch of Poshan Maah in Silvassa on September 1, Union Minister Smriti Irani extols about how this Abhiyaan has turned into a Mass Movement.

Here's what she tweeted - 

Other prominent Bollywood celebrities like Shilpa Shetty and Anil Kapoor also supported this initiative and stated that 'its time we focus on spreading awareness and fighting against malnutrition.
