Amit Shah thanks all parties for their support as Rajya Sabha unanimously passes J&K Reservation (Amendment) Bill, says 'this reiterates trust in PM Modi's leadership and vision'

In a big push, the Rajya Sabha passed the resolution for extension of President's rule in Jammu and Kashmir for a further period of six months with effect from July 3, 2019.

In a big push, the Rajya Sabha passed the resolution for extension of President's rule in Jammu and Kashmir for a further period of six months with effect from July 3, 2019. The Upper House also unanimously passed the J&K Reservation (Amendment) Bill, 2019, proposed by Home Minister Amit Shah. 

Taking to Twitter over the development, Home Minister Amit Shah said that it is an important day for Parliament as two bills related to state of J&K have been unanimously passed in both houses.

He further said that the government under the leadership of PM Modi left no stones unturned for peace, prosperity, and development of J&K and the resolution further strengthens Centre's resolve to ensure the

In another tweet, the Home Minister thanked all parties for their support in the bills, adding that this yet again reiterates trust in the leadership and vision of PM Modi. 

He went onto congratulate PM Modi over the passing of the bills in the Upper House and said that he is sure that under PM Modi's leadership, the country will soon see a peaceful and progressive Kashmir. 

The resolution and the Bill, moved for discussion and passage by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, was passed by the Lok Sabha on June 28.

The J&K Reservation (Amendment) Bill proposes to give reservation in educational institutions and government jobs to people living within 10 kms of the International Border in Jammu. It also replaces the Ordinance promulgated in this regard. 

Earlier, PM Modi took to Twitter and thanked MPs across political parties for their enriched participation in the rich debates over the bills pertaining to Jammu and Kashmir. He further added that such agreement from all the parties over the bills is "gladdening".
