There is something very enduring about the Mumbai rains, something that encapsulates the soul of the megapolis and its enigmatic beauty.
While the recent heavy rains evoked bouts of nostalgia among the netizens who flooded their Twitter feeds with videos and pictures of the downpour, Mahindra and Mahindra group Chairman Anand Mahindra was also drawn by the inescapable charm.
Taking to Twitter, he posted a video, captured from what looks like the lower floors of an apartment building in which he may or may not reside, of the rain falling. Captioning it 'rain revival' he went on to write about how rains and streetlights form an important part of Mumbai's imagery.
His tweet read,
A 'rain revival' in Mumbai. There's something about streetlights and sheets of rain that are very much a part of this city's imagery... pic.twitter.com/KgwlHjkVOR

In the video which is 16 seconds long, the rain can simply be seen falling inexorably and unendingly, being illuminated by the streetlight to which he is referring. The clip was appreciated by the netizens who also went on to share their experience and thoughts about the Mumbai rains.
One netizen wrote about the characteristic smell that foreshadows rain:
There’s something about that beautiful fragrance of geeli mitti during and after the rain too! :)
— Harnoor Singh (@hrnurtweets)
Another netizen thought of another of Mumbai's institutions - Bollywood:
A scene perfectly used by many Bollywood rain dance sequence...missing the Mumbai rains...its awesome to watch rain sitting by the window....nice capture of moment sir !!! 😊👍
— Anjali Misra (@Janjiee)
And a third revelled in nostalgia:
Remember watching this endlessly before mobiles and satellite tv arrived...

One user didn't shy away to credit Legendary filmmaker Raj Kapoor who had perhaps pioneered in romanticizing Mumbai rains in his movies. The umbrella song of Raj Kapoor Nargis 'Pyaar hua ikraar hua' could be pointed out as one such example where the rains were depicted beautifully.
Yeah, we have Rajkapoor to thank for that. 😂

This comment caught the attention of Anand Mahindra who himself commented about his pursuit of the original poster of the film 'Barsaat'.
Indeed...Am looking for an original poster of the classic movie ‘Barsaat’... https://t.co/QfyIfluCcf
— anand mahindra (@anandmahindra)
In a kind gesture, many of the followers even took the effort to post the original poster of the film 'Barsaat' to help the industrialist end his quest.
