Communist Partly of India (CPI) General Secretary D Raja on Wednesday responded to CJI Ranjan Gogoi setting a deadline in the Ayodhya Ram-Mandir case mediation process, saying that many facts have to taken into consideration including the religious faith of the people and archeology facts before the final verdict comes out. Stating that he is unsure that mediation by the religious leaders will draw any result or not, D Raja added that the religious leaders can continue their mediation till the Judiciary system comes up with a solution on the Ram Mandir case.

"Till then all the debates and discussions on faith and archeology files can continue," D Raja added.

The CPI General Secretary refused to comment about the further proceedings in the Judicial process and the conclusion in the Ayodhya mediation matter. He stated that it is for the Supreme Court to decide. Asserting that Ram Mandir matter is old and very sensitive, he stated that it is wise to wait for the decision by the CJI.

"Let us wait for the outcome of the judicial process, then only we can comment on what will happen and how will the people react over it," the CPI leader said.

CJI sets date

On Wednesday, CJI Ranjan Gogoi-led bench asked the parties in Ayodhya case to make efforts to complete arguments by October 1. The CJI also said that the court can sit extra hours and even on Saturdays to complete the arguments. This development has come a day after Republic accessed a letter by the Sunni Waqf Board to the mediation panel asking for more time to come to a solution in the Ayodhya-Ram Mandir dispute.

"The issue was almost resolved and the parties had reached a definite settlement. However, the same could not be finalised due to paucity of time. If only or two weeks more were available with you, we are sure that Settlement could have come through," the letter dated September 5, 2019 read.

The mediation panel comprises of Justice P.M. Ibrahim Kalifulla, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and Sriram Panchi. On August 2, CJI Ranjan Gogoi had announced that Ayodhya mediation panel headed by Justice FM Kalifulla failed to conclude the matter. Following this, the court began day-to-day hearings from August 6.
