The Police has stated that four people have arrested so far in the incident.

"We have arrested four people. It was a case of personal enmity," Anil Kumar Singh, the circle officer of Varanasi Cantt said.

"They planned everything, they had a meeting in the chamber a few days ago as well and they live at Birla C but checked in at Birla A,"  claimed one of the students.

On being asked if they were received any injuries during the incident, he replied, "Yes, they fired at us too. A few days ago they also stole Rs. 40,000, and food from a student staying at the campus. Knowing everything, how is there no investigation on the illegal people living here?"

Meanwhile, an FIR has been filed against the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Rana who currently is out of the city and has not been responding to the police.

Amid the prevailing panic in the campus, the university has been shut with the Uttar Pradesh police appealing the students to stay calm and handle the situation with peace.
