Bihar floods: NDRF evacuates over 4,000 people in capital Patna

The State and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have rescued and evacuated over 4,000 citizens from the flood-affected areas in Patna, Bihar

Bihar floods: The State and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on Monday have rescued and evacuated over 4,000 citizens from the flood-affected areas in Patna. According to reports, 19 NDRF teams have been sent out for evacuation. Out of the 19 teams, five NDRF teams have been sent to Patna's flood-affected areas. Further reports stated that on Sunday, the NDRF teams carried out rescue operations in the low-lying parts of the state capital and rescued over 200 people and moved them to safer places. 

NDRF rescues Sushil Modi

The State and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on Monday rescued the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Sushil Modi from his residence. He was rescued to a safer place along with this family by a boat. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas on Monday. He has also called for a meeting with the officials from all the flood-affected areas.

The CM also cited the lack of warning from the IMD over rainfall after September 26 as a reason for unpreparedness.

IMD predicts heavy rainfall

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday, heavy rains will continue in Bihar, leading to the government to issue a 'red alert' in the state. On Monday, the weather department has predicted 'heavy to very heavy' rainfall in Bihar.
