Bihar heist: ICICI bank robbed in Muzaffarpur’s Gobarsahi area

On Saturday, six people entered an ICICI bank branch in Muzzafarpur's Gobarshi area and robbed over Rs. 8,00,000. While the incident has been caught on CCTV, as the robbers wore helmets, their identity is yet to be determined. The police informed the media of the heist, stating that the entire incident happened very quickly.

The curious case of money heist

According to the manager of the bank, the robbers took about Rs. 8,05,115. Speaking of the incident, he stated that the robbers captured the guard and looted all the money that was available in the counter. They further looted guns and rifles of the security guard and threatened the people who were present during the chaotic situation. "Over 10 employees and four-five account holders were at the bank when the incident took place," the bank's branch manager said in a statement to the media.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Manoj Kumar also made a statement adding that the entire incident took place very rapidly, and said that there were six people involved in the heist.

"It is a strange case of loot. This entire incident took place within a minute. There are six robbers, among which two or three appear to be minor. A special team has been constituted to investigate the matter," Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Manoj Kumar said in a statement.

Similar incidents of robberies

In a similar incident of a gang robbery, unidentified robbers looted cash and jewellery on January 9, 2019. The incident took place between Dhanauri and Kajra in the district. The robbers looted passengers who were aboard on a train in the Lakhisarai district of Bihar. The unidentified robbers managed a heist of Rs 25 lakhs along with expensive jewellery and mobile phones from the people travelling in the train. The 12350 New Delhi-Bhagalpur Express witnessed the unfortunate heist as the robbers managed to escape without any identification.
