The BJP on Sunday kicked off a pair of programmes geared towards the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, with party president Amit Shah initiating 'Bharat Ke Mann Ki Baat - Modi Ke Saath' and the 'Sankalp Patra' initiative.

The official statement from the party states:

"Since last five years, we (BJP) have been very encouraging for the overall development of the country. In order to improve India's economy, we have also succeeded in bringing unprecedented change by providing better standards of living to millions of people".

This campaign will try to reach the masses through various mediums.

Amit Shah began by remarking on the situation before 2014 when the Narendra Modi-led NDA government came to power.

He spoke about the cons of having a coalition government and how it has affected the country for the last three decades.

He also attacked populist policies of the previous governments.

Shah also said that the initiative be one of its kind.

Earlier on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed massive rallies in West Bengal's Thakurnagar and Durgapur and said that the meaning of 'Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas' is evident in the interim budget of 2019.
