Commenting on the "brutal murder" of a Hindu priest and a BJP worker, Supriyo Banerjee, from Nadia, the official Twitter handle of Bharatiya Janata Party West Bengal (BJP Bengal) stated that "Law and Order in West Bengal is a sad joke now." The BJP Bengal further questioned, "Why are the so-called liberals mute spectators of the gruesome murders?" According to the BJP Bengal, around eight people have been murdered in the last four days.

According to news reports, the Priest had gone missing on Monday after completing the rituals of Navami of Durga Puja. After his family members went on a search, the victim's scooter was found in the nearby village. On Thursday, his body was found from a pond in Nadia, West Bengal. Further reports stated that Banerjee had some verbal arguments on Monday night.

RSS worker killed

An RSS worker in Murshidabad in West Bengal along with his pregnant wife and an eight-year-old child were killed on Wednesday. This led to a protest march by the BJP and RSS on Thursday. According to reports, the RSS and the BJP have alleged that the worker along with his family were killed due to free-hand given to culprits under TMC's rule. They further questioned the law and order situation in West Bengal under Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. BJP Member of Parliament Babul Supriyo tweeted, "In which direction is Bengal moving? Does 'Maa' 'Maati' 'Manush' (human) mean anything to you? Did we want this Bengal? On one hand we worship Durga and Kali Maa, and on the other hand, we put a mother and her child to death."
