BJP MLA writes to PM requesting to sprinkle water to curb pollution

BJP MLA from Loni, Ghaziabad Nand Kishor Gurjar, has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting to sprinkle water across Delhi and NCR to curb pollution

As Delhi continues to choke under severe smog and pollution, a BJP MLA from Loni, Ghaziabad Nand Kishor Gurjar, has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting to sprinkle water with the assistance of Air Force, & induce artificial rain, in the Delhi National Capital Region (NCR) region, to reduce air pollution. 

AQI in Loni districts reaches 1700-1900

Nand Kishor Gurjar in his letter says, the people of Delhi have been living inside a 'gas chamber' from the past week and people are inhaling 'slow poisin'. He says,the AQI in his own constituency has reached 1700-1900 and there has been an increase in people complaining of respiratory issues. "Prime Minister, you talk about the state of pollution and sustainable development in your addresses and are working towards achieving those goals," the letter says. "In this situation, lakhs of people hope that the situation could be controlled by sprinkling water in the entire Delhi and NCR region through helicopters," the letter further added.

Punjab and Haryana review measures to Curb Air Pollution

The Air Quality Index in Delhi had touched 494 (severe) on Sunday, the 24-hour average at 4 pm on Monday was recorded at 407 (severe), with this further falling to below 400 by the evening. Meanwhile, the state Government of Haryana is taking strict action by enforcing the fines for violation of the Air  Pollution(Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act,1981. The Chief Secretary of Haryana said the Government is working toward reducing the cases of stubble burning and has also implemented field round the clock to control the causes of air pollution.

According to sources, nearly 15 lakh cars went off-road in Delhi on Monday and the enforcement agencies also reported high compliance across the city as Delhi began its third edition of the odd-even road rationing scheme on Monday as a measure to improve air quality. Fuel based industries in Delhi are also to remain shut until November 8, according to orders issued by the SC mandated anti-pollution authority EPCA.  The Environment Pollution (Prevention and Control) Authority also extended the ban on hot-mix plants and stone-crushers in Delhi-NCR till November 8.
