The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, is all set to propagate Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals and principles of non-violence, swaraj and simplicity after adopting his idea of cleanliness as part of his 150th birth anniversary. The party has decided to organise countrywide ‘Gandhi Sankalp Yatra’ from October 2 to 31, with PM Modi leading the campaign in Delhi after paying tributes to Gandhi at Rajghat on his 150th birth anniversary. The tagline 'Mann Mein Bapu' (Bapu is in our hearts) will be used in the campaign to spread awareness about Mahatma Gandhi's principles.
BJP president Amit Shah on Saturday interacted with party officials, Chief Ministers, state Presidents and MPs through video conferencing and laid out the party's extensive plans to celebrate the Mahatma’s 150th birth anniversary. During the meeting, Shah discussed several programmes organised by the BJP to spread awareness about Gandhi's principles and make them eternal. "On the occasion of Bapu's 150th birth anniversary, the BJP is organising the 'Gandhi Sankalp Yatra' from October 2 to 31 across the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the 'Gandhi Sankalp Yatra' by paying homage at Bapu's Samadhi on October 2," said Shah during the meeting.
"Every public representative of the party should undertake 15-day padayatra in his respective areas and spread the principles of Mahatma Gandhi to the people of the village through programmes like cleanliness, Khadi, freedom from single-use plastic and tree plantation, etc," he added. The party leaders have been asked to hold rallies, public meetings, press conferences and programs of 'Prabhat Pheri'. Amit Shah also asked them to propagate Bapu's message on eradicating social evils. He told the party leaders to organise programmes with equal devotion and dedication in the areas where its presence is weak.
