Mumbai Police gets threat call about serial blasts in local trains, investigation on

The caller said he was calling from Vile Parle in Juhu. On being asked specifics, the caller disconnected and switched off his mobile phone, police say.

The Mumbai Police Control room received a call on Sunday morning in which the caller said serial bomb blasts will take place in Mumbai local trains, police said. The caller said he was calling from Vile Parle area in Juhu but hung up when asked questions about the specific train. Mumbai Police have initiated a probe into the call and have arrested the caller. 

A Mumbai Police official confirmed the call and said: "We received the call in the morning. The caller claimed to be calling from Juhu. We have traced the location of the caller and are looking for him. The caller switched his mobile off after making a call to us. We have alerted all the local police stations after the call was made. We are doing an inquiry. We suspect it could be a hoax call, but we can't take a risk. Hence, every call is taken very seriously. Once the caller is taken into custody, (we) will ascertain the reason of this call."  

Now, the caller, identified as Ashok Shankar Mukhia, has been arrested from Juhu. Police say he was in a drunken state.  Mumbai Police has registered a case under the relevant sections of IPC.
