Cancer medicine selling racket busted, medicines seized, two arrested

A cancer medicine selling racket has been busted by the AATS for selling costly cancer medicines that were meant for Defense personnel and ESI dispensaries.

A cancer medicine selling racket has been busted by the Anti Auto Theft Squad (AATS) for selling costly cancer medicines that were meant for Defense personnel and Employee's State Insurance (ESI) dispensaries in Delhi on Monday. According to Jasmeet Singh, DCP East, the police have recovered the medicines of Rs 30 lakhs. It included five packets with the ESI mark. However, the mark was erased from the other seven packets. 

The raid

According to the police, a raiding party led by Inspector Dinesh Arya caught hold of the gang members. Upon interrogation, the members disclosed that a similar gang is operating in Gwalior, Mumbai, Ghaziabad and Noida. A case has been registered against the gang and two members have been arrested. They have been identified as Om Nath and Dhruv Nath who are residents of Krishi farm. Further, the police revealed that during the investigation, large quantities of medicine was recovered. Along with it, the chemical used for erasing the sale stamp has also been recovered from the office of one of the accused members. It has also been revealed that the gang members are supplying the medicines for cheap rates through Indiamart.

Mumbai's fake cancer certificate squad busted

In May this year, the Western Railway authorities in Mumbai busted a fake cancer certificate racket where some people had submitted the forged cancer patient concession certificates to get reserved train tickets. According to reports, the Western Railway's Vigilance department had seized 74 such forged cancer concession certificates from the ticket reservation centre at Dadar. The railway provides 50 per cent to 100 per cent concession to cancer patients. With this, they are also given confirmed berths under the emergency quota.
